Congratulations to Troy Burgess on his retirement! He has served as South Putnam's AD, football coach, baseball coach, basketball coach, MS Dean, Assistant Principal and teacher! What remarkable service as an Eagle! Coach Burgess, you will be greatly missed!





We celebrated Winter Senior Night on Saturday! Our Eagles made it even more special with boys basketball wins against North Vermillion! What a great night with students and families!










This week our soon-to-be freshmen participated in our 8th Grade Seminar where they learned about diploma requirements, graduation seals, dual credits, Early College, CTE programs and work-based learning. The best part included sessions during which our upperclassmen shared what it is like to be in high school!








February Fun Friday. Grade level teams had to memorize a tongue twister to earn a letter. First team to build their class name won.




Mrs. Henry took our APC US History class to Indiana University to attend the on-campus version of H106. Students also toured IU's campus. Thank you to Mrs. Henry for allowing our students to experience what an on-campus college course looks and feels like.

Boys Basketball had a great win against Owen Valley tonight, and it was Elementary Night! What a fun evening, and a chance to see the strong future of the basketball program!










Jazz Band students created floats in honor of Mardi Gras demonstrating knowledge about musicians from Louis Armstrong to Ellis Marsalis, Jr.





How do you apply your mathematical understanding of area and slope? You build something! Some 7th grade students in Mr. York's class discussed and displayed their projects (houses or food trucks). From 3D printing to carefully hand created items, the projects showed creativity and precision. Well done!

Last Thursday night, South Putnam and Greencastle's Champions Together teams competed as part of the Boys County Tourney! Thank you to South Putnam organizers Tom Standers and Elizabeth Dobson. Well done to all of the participants and partners who made it a successful game!








Students in Mrs. Carranzas art class have created projects for the Putnam County Museum's Student Art Show. The show will open Saturday, February 28th. Our artists created exceptional works that express their interests and demonstrated their creative exploration of materials and styles.










Congrats to our Middle School Girls Basketball teams on 2 big wins against Monrovia tonight. The girls played hard on both ends of the floor for all 4 quarters.








Thank you to Hometown Dental for sponsoring the Putnam County Hometown Heroes. Special thanks to the South Putnam Hero Corey Robinson. Corey has served in the Indiana State Police for the last 20 years and has spent countless hours volunteering at South Putnam. He is involved in PIE, coordinates mock accident drills, has coached boys and girls basketball, and serves as an advisor on school safety.


Students in Advanced Life Science Foods learn about cutting a whole chicken into all its retail cuts with Mr. Sheldon.


Some middle school students studying U.S. history in social studies learned about Mardi Gras including sampling a king cake.

7th Grade students in Mrs. Neely's class are learning about the world. They made salt dough maps of Africa, Asia and the Southwest Pacific to better understand the topography including elevation and waterways.



Be kind. It is simple but powerful message South Putnam students and staff shared today by wearing student chosen shirts. Thank you to the Student Safety Team, Student Council and Champions Together for supporting our kindness initiative.







This past Saturday we had 26 students participate in the ISSMA District Solo & Ensemble contest at Avon High School. 15 soloists and 6 ensembles took part in the event bringing home 19 gold and 2 silver medals. Adrie Burge, Robert Emmerich, and Kennadie Thompson received gold for their Group I solos and will advance to state on February 28, 2026. Congratulations to Mr. Champion and all of the musicians!
