Who is an Eagle? A representative group of South Putnam students in grades 6 through 11 met during a 2 1/2 hour workshop to define what they want for themselves, their classmates and their school. This document will lead our 2023-2024 Student Handbook. Thank you to the students who volunteered, and thank you to Mr. Heath Pruitt for being the session facilitator. It is amazing and encouraging to see what our students create when we ask them what do you want South Putnam to stand for? Who do you want to be?

Good morning, Eagles:
As you may have heard through the news media, there have been some threats to schools in various areas of the state. We do not know the content or nature of the threats. However, South Putnam Schools have NOT received any threats and will operate as normal. We will continue to actively monitor the situation and provide updates if anything changes.

Caitlyn Phillips came to see me, Mrs. Tona Gardner, a couple of months ago. She had an idea. She wanted to help organize a book fair for our school. She had positive memories of attending book fairs, and she wanted to do something for the students of South Putnam. She contacted Scholastic and recruited Mrs. Bye to be her staff sponsor. Thank you to Caitlyn Phillips for her ingenuity and determination all along the way to get this done! Thank you Mrs. Bye for giving her time and effort to help make this happen too.

Congratulations to Dunkin York who is a Finalist in the 2023 Competition for National Merit Scholarship awards. Dunkin is an extraordinary academic who will be earning 55 dual credits while here at South Putnam. He stays busy outside the classroom too. For example, he is currently running track,
and he just completed a guitar-playing, gun-slinging role as Jack Oglesby in the spring play The Death and Life of Sneaky Fitch.

Assistant Principals John Skomp and Kevin Rounds make us proud! They work long hours and do so with patience and persistence. They never quite know what their day may hold. They sometimes have to deliver hard news or say "no." But they also encourage students, promote forgiveness, build solutions and set up and supervise events. Their work keeps our students safe and makes school happen. Thank you John and Kevin and happy National Assistant Principals Week!

It was a busy night at South Putnam with home baseball, softball and track! It was a great opportunity to see a lot of our spring athletes compete!
