First grade went on a fossil dig! They have been learning about animal adaptations. They studied what is helpful for animals that dig, like scoop shape, claws, and teeth. They built a prototype to dig out fossils, tested the prototype, and made improvements on the prototype. They then got to sift out the fossils and take a closer look at them. They could then sort the fossils and read the information cards about the fossils!

Yesterday, Mrs. Gruener's class explored basic principles of physics with exciting balloon rocket races! 🎈🚀 The students learned about force and motion and how these concepts made their balloons soar. 💨✨

🇺🇸 Fillmore Elementary honored Veterans Day with a heartfelt program. Student Council led the Pledge of Allegiance, shared a poem, and SSGT Frank Gardner spoke to our guests. Mrs. Pruitt guided K-5 students in singing patriotic songs, and students had the chance to thank each veteran in attendance personally. We are proud to celebrate and honor those who served! 🇺🇸

The FES Student Council is hosting a Food Drive November 1st through the 18th!
Mrs. Boyce's 2nd graders used their daily math meeting time to build 3-D shapes with straws and pipe cleaners. The students reviewed math vocabulary: cube, face, edge, angle, vertex, dimension. Everyone was engaged and excited about their giant cubes!
